San Cerbone – Acropolis shuttle service
In some periods of the year there is public transport connecting the car park reserved for the visitors to the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia, entrance on the sea side (Casone car park), and the entrance uphill of the Park itself (Populonia). For more information call 0565 226445.
For wheelchair users
You can request that the shuttle service uses a means of transport suitable for wheelchair users for the ride from the Caldanelle car park to the Casone car park (Archaeological Park car park) and to high Populonia. Send your request at least 5 days before the service offered by Parchi Val di Cornia is needed by fax to no. 0565 226521 or by email to prenotazioni@parchivaldicornia.it)
Admission fee with guided visits. Guided visits follow a daily timetable. A complete tour of the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia takes a full day.
There are 2 Visitor Centres with a museum gift shop: one at the Etruscan Necropolis and the other at the Acropolis. Visitors can buy tickets for the tour of the Park at both centres.

There is a bar-restaurant (“I TrEtruschi”) at San Cerbone.
Due to the nature of the monuments and their location, the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia is not accessible to users of wheelchairs unless they are accompanied or in a motorised wheelchair suitable for uneven or rough ground (only the Necropolis of San Cerbone and the Acropolis). The ground floor of the visitor center is accessible; instead, ask the Park’s management about access to the “Davide Mancini” Experimental Archaeology Centre.

Baratti Car Park, near the Necropoleis: “Casone” car park (capacity: 100 cars, 6 coaches). Visitors to the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia can park free of charge in this car park. Coaches bringing visitors to the Park must clearly display the access permit, received when the booking was made through the Parchi Val di Cornia booking office.
Populonia Car Park, close to the Acropolis: private pay and display car park, for cars only.
The Visitor Centre at the Archaeological Mines Park of San Silvestro, located in Temperino, is the starting point for all excursions. Here you will find the ticket office, info point, museum gift shop and the Archaeology and Minerals Museum.
The museum gift shop of the Archaeological Mines Park of San Silvestro sells books (specialised and popular publications) and gift ideas (in particular, raw and worked minerals to make small pieces of jewellery). A section is dedicated to books published by Parch Val di Cornia and objects of the coordinated Parchi Val di Cornia line.

The Documentation Centre of the Archaeological Mines Park of San Silvestro is located in the 16th century Villa Lanzi.
This old building, adjacent to the Palazzo Gowett Hostel, besides being the centre of the collection and conservation of the documentation regarding studies, researches and projects concerning the territory of Val di Cornia, is also the ideal venue for training courses, seminars, round tables and conferences.

There is a bar-restaurant (Santa Barbara) at Temperino.
There is a small refreshment point with beverages and snacks at the Rocca di San Silvestro.
Close to the Rocca di San Silvestro and next to the Villa Lanzi Documentation Centre there is the Palazzo Gowett Hostel, with 24 rooms, all with bathroom, for a total of 96 beds. For schools and groups, bookings can be made by calling the Parchi Val di Cornia Information and Booking Office at 0565 226445.
There is wheelchair access at the Museum of Archaeology and Minerals, at the Museums of Mining Equipment and Miners at Pozzo Earle and on the train in the Lanzi-Temperino Tunnel. The Park Hostel is equipped for people with reduced mobility. The Documentation Centre of Villa Lanzi is wheelchair accessible.
We recommend outdoor clothing and trekking shoes, a sun hat in summer and a sweater/sweatshirt for the visit to the mines where the temperature is constantly around 14°C.
Temperino car park.
Near the Visitor Centre, free. Coaches can drive up to the ticket office where there is space for them to turn round.
Madonna di Fucinaia car park.
On the SP 20 main road, free. There are parking spaces also for coaches. Around 800 m from the Temperino Visitor Centre (follow the signs for Temperino).
Valle Lanzi car park.
Located close to the old mining facilities below Rocca San Silvestro. For cars and coaches
Located on the ground floor, at the entrance to the Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Populonia. Besides selling tickets, it provides general information about the museum and parks system.
The gift shop sells specialised and popular publications and has a section devoted to kids’ and teens’ books on history, archaeology and the environment. There is a wide range of gift ideas including reproductions, painted ceramics, jewellery and gems, artistic perfumery and gadgets.
A section is dedicated to books published by Parchi Val di Cornia and objects from the coordinated Parchi Val di Cornia line.

The room on the ground floor, equipped with audio-visual equipment, can be booked for conferences, lessons and cultural events.
The room adjacent to the Museum Café can be booked for cultural meetings, events and meetings in the Café.

There are no architectonic barriers at the Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Populonia. There are lifts for wheelchair users. The floor of the museum itinerary has directional tactile pavers for visitors with visual impairment. The itinerary “A museum in all senses” has been designed for visitors with visual and hearing impairment.

Reserved for wheelchair users, the car park can be reached from Via Leporatti, taking the dirt road on the left at the feral cat colony.

If you come to the events in the Sterpaia Park, we recommend outdoor clothing and trekking shoes in the summer; mosquito repellent is also recommended.
Wheelchair access
All the bathing establishments present in the area of the Sterpaia Park have been designed to offer full wheelchair access.
In the heart of the Sterpaia Park there is a path that can be used by wheelchair users to reach the beach where there are also shaded terraces (on the beach and in the pine grove) equipped as stopping points.
Of the 6 toilet blocks, 4 are wheelchair accessible at:
“Carlappiano” and “Mortelliccio”.
Special boardwalks allow wheelchair users to reach the sea at all the bathing establishments and beaches in the park.

There are picnic areas in the areas around “Casetta Fiorentina” that can be accessed from Casetta Fiorentina, 500 metres from Sassetta in the direction of Prata-Suvereto.
